The Haynie Happenings: Christmas Eve

We did Christmas a little different this year. We chose to give my parents a fun day instead of gifts so we went on a Christmas Eve santa train ride. The train was the Georgetown loop train and it was tons of fun. My dad has always enjoyed adventure and trains so we was like a kid and Caleb was just starting to get OBSESSED with Thomas the Train so this was a BIG deal. We drove up early and enjoyed a really yummy breakfast at a local diner we then went to wait about 30 min for the train ride. The seating was first come first serve so we wanted to make sure we would all be able to sit close to each other. It was freezing but we kept busy and pretty warm.

Of course Papa found the warmth! We were lucky to be first in so we got to sit by the heater it was perfect

Another train along the trip. The scenery was beautiful with the snow and all the old train cars, engines, signs, and stations.

Santa visited, Madi was so excited and Caleb pretty much ignored him and continued to play with Thomas and Percy..

You can see this got his attention...He was then completely enthrolled

At the end of the ride Papa and Grandma got us a trip to the engine where we were able to sit in the drivers seat and meet the engineer

After the train ride we headed back to our house where we had a yummy honey baked ham lunch with all the traditional ham dinner sides. While we cooked Grandma and Papa enjoyed some reading time. Papa is teaching Madi how to read so they have fun praciting
