When cranky meets the bathtub

It was a typical night at the haynie household. I asked joe to start a bath for the kids while i finished some things up downstairs. Caleb was super crabby and didn't want to wait for me so he was screaming. I didn't know that Joe had already put Madi in the bath and he came down to help me finish (i think it was dishes) and let me know the water was ready. Next thing we hear is a thump, crying and laughing. I go running up stairs to find madison laughing hystarically and caleb soaked in the tub shoes and all... Needless to say he was not to happy about the clothes, diaper, and shoes but hey it was his OWN fault right??

Mt Princeton

We tried something new as a Haynie family this year. Instead of going camping (because of all the fires and drought our spot didn't have water and there were no fires allowed so that equals no fun!) we got a cabin in Mt. Princeton Resort. It was beautiful and we had so much fun. There are natural hot spring pools and a river to play in. The kids had a great time swimming and enjoying to cooler weather. Also the deer were not afraid of humans, the were literally coming up to your face wanting to know what you were going to give them. It was a beautiful weekend and so much fun to all hang out.

First day of school

I didn't realize how hard this post would be to write! I can't believe that my little girl is old enough for school! Real school!! She is attending the pre K program at a Cornerstone Christain Academy. It is a non-demoniational private school that a friends kids attend and we thought we would give it a try. I can honestly say that it was one of the best decision that we could have made. Yes it is farther and yes she is the only one of her chruch friends attending but it is wonderful. She is in a class of 6 with 2 teachers and is learning so much. She loves school and is so excited to learn. Her teachers Ms. Michelle and Ms. Leslie adore her and are excited to help her learn. She gets to go on 2 fieldtrips a month and I think it is wonderful.

The day would not be complete with out a new first day of school outfit, backpack and front door pictures! She picked it out all herself

Lakeside 2.0

We had another fun filled evening at Lakeside with the Haynie's.  Madison always loves the amusement park and this year Caleb got to join in on the fun! His favorite rides included the boats and the horses. Hers were the horses, cars, motorcycles, spinning thing, frog hopper, roller coaster and pretty much anything that moved!

Caleb's first day of nursery

This is random in the summer catch-up blogs but this was Caleb's first day of nursery. I had to put in the cute picture!

Manassa Colorado

We chose to head back down to Manassa Colorado this year for the annual pioneer day celebration. The Haynie's were pioneers that settled in the area and it is fun to go see the history and hear the stories. Joe's grandpa and grandma Haynie grew up there as well and his dad spent summers there so there are a lot of memories. We took the kids to the rodeo (which isn't close to pbr or the stock show we go to every year) but it was a lot of fun. My children are obessed with horses, cowgirls and cowboys so its always a great time.

They let all the kids run out and chase calfs that have money tied to their tails. Madison was super excited to go out there until we got to the gate then she didn't want to go until all the fun started and she was over the fence to fast and went chasing the cows!

Yep they are brother and sister! After  long day of driving and rodeos there is nothing better than milk and a movie!

Caleb was upset he didn't have a hat so we got him his first cowboy hat while we were there. There they are at the parade.

Alligators

On our way to Manassa this year (more on that trip later) We stopped at the good 'ol Colorado Alligator farm! Let me tell you it was a fun stop but we probably won't be seeing these guys again... and it was smelly! But the kids had a good time looking and touching the alligators.

Ash joined us and was able to hold her first (and probably only) alligator!

This was Calebs first walking trip. My goal was to have him walking by Manassa so I didn't have to carry him everywhere. Well we made it (with one day to spare) He was still a new walker but was having a great time trying.

I told Madi that I was going to take this sign and put it up in her room. We also told her that the sign said "No Whining or you will be eaten by an alligator." It worked for this trip but about 2 weeks later she began to really read and we can't make stuff up anymore.
