January/February recap in pics!

Here is a little photo recap of what happened in the life of Madi (in no particular order) before things got crazy with the addition of Caleb!

A trip to the zoo! We made one last trip to the zoo with just mommy and madi with our friends the Millers. Madi made herself a peanut butter sandwhich cake with pretzel candles!

I have wonderful friends who threw me and Caleb a baby shower! We had a great time and got some super cute little boy cloths, now joe doesn't have to worry about him being dressed in pink.

2 Years old!

I can't believe how quickly the time goes. We didn't get a chance to get her 2 year pics taken so I decided to try to take some myself. She picked the cowgirl and pony theme and I think they turned out pretty well.

When we got the new tv for christmas the old one moved to our room. I didn't know if I would like a tv in the bedroom but Madi loves to watch tv on the bed. She has even given it the name of 'bed show'

I decided to give gymnactics a try with Madi and was sp happy to find a program that teaches 2 year olds. To say that Madi loved it would be quite an understatement. It is something that she looks forward to weekly and she really is improving her strength, listening and social skills. We have so much fun.

He has a head full of hair and so far is doing great.

Like the rest of this pregnancy he came as a complete surprise as we had a c-section scheduled for March 1st and I actually ended up going into labor monday night and was able to have a sucessful VBAC! Madison absolutely loves her brother and has become very protective of him even to the point of telling mommy and daddy to stop hurting him when we change his diapers and he cries. She calles him 'Taleb" and sometime it comes out as tadpole which i think is cute. "my baby" and brother. She also has to know where he is at all times and loves to hold and hug him. After a little bout with Jaundice we are all home and doing well. I will post more pictures and a little update on whats been going on in Madi's life later.

Funny things Madi says

She has moved from calling Joe and I Momma and Dadda to Daddy and Mommy only it comes out Mummy most of the time...

While looking for my phone one day I found her pacing her bedroom holding it to her ear aparently having quite the conversation with someone. When I asked her for the phone she poilitely coved the receiver and said "mommy i'm talking on the phone" and then went back to the conversation like it was nothing. (I'm still not sure who she was talking to...)

After spending 3 days of cleaning and organizing the house I realized that she had been watching to much tv the past few days when we had this interaction:
Madi: Mommy help me draw a horse.
Me: Can you wait just I minute I have to finish paying the bill.
Madi: Putting her hands on her face... " I need help; call Oso please" (meaning special agent Oso on Disney Channel)

D-O-G

So Since I am kind of using this as a written scrapbook/journal for the kiddo's I figured that I would need to document the funny and crazy things that Madison does!

About a week or so ago while watching what Madi calls a bedshow (watching one of her cartoons on my bed) she turned to me and said very matter of fact, "Momma d-o-g spells dog" and then went back to watching word world. After picking my jaw up off the floor i figured that she was just repeating what she had seen on the show. Word World is a PBS show that uses letters put together to make animals, and pretty much everything on the show. I was slightly curious to see if she would do it again so later that night while we were putting her to bed I asked her to tell daddy how to spell dog. She again very matter of fact said 'dada d-o-g'. I was pretty surprised that she did it at all let alone again.

I was then pretty curious about what other small words and letters she could put together so I figured we would start with a few of her favorite animals cow and pig in addition to dog. I found a cute puzzle game at costco that spelled out 3 and 4 letter words using one letter for each piece, then when you put them together they make a picture of the word. We played it a few times and she really enjoyed it. She also would bring me her magna doodle and ask me to spell words like cow, pig, dog, cat, etc. I figured that she just really likes letters and wasn't really absorbing much because we hadn't had any jaw dropping reading moments since the dog incident.

However last night i wrote the word dog on a piece of paper and asked her what it spelled, after repeating the letters she saw she said 'dog momma'. I then wrote the word cow, this time she didn't say the letters only 'spells cow', she then did the same with pig. Needless to say I was pretty impressed that even with out pictures of the animals she knew what those 3 words were.

Now she has been able to recognize upper and lower case letters for a few months now by sight so I know that she is smart, but to really to be able to put letters together and really read simple 3 letter words at 2?? I think I'm definitely in trouble, she is like a little sponge soaking up everything and she is definitely a lover of learning!

Christmas, Birthday, and the 2 year old!

Happy New Year to all! We had a great December with Madi's 2nd birthday and Christmas, however I am still trying to figure out where the month went! Madison is now a crazy 2 year old and I will have to say while we have had our fair share of temper tantrums so far the 2's really aren't that terrible. She has been great and is very excited to be a big girl. Her birthday celebration started with a tinkerbell party with a few of her friends on the 15th. It was fun to celebrate with friends and gave them all a chance to play and have fun (although Madi did spend most of the afternoon hiding in her tent...) We then had a small family party on the 23rd which was also a lot of fun!

So usually Madi won't eat frosting and just eats the cake....this time she just ate the frosting.. For her party on the 23rd she requested that I make cherry pie instead of cake at all...

Aunt Deniese and Uncle Kenny got her this purple pillow pet for christmas...she has had to carry the hippo around for weeks now!

Super cute nativity advent calander that Madi got from Great Grandpa Tony and Donna. We have had so much fun with this!

So our first santa visit at Chick-fil-a was a disaster! But even so Madi kept talking about how she wanted to go see santa and tell him that she wanted a choo choo for christmas. So on her birthday we found this cute little santa village near our house. It was perfect because she was the only kid there and they let her take her time talking and singing jingle bells with Santa. She won't sit on her lap but she did finally ask him for a train, gave him a high five and a hug and then went to enjoy her candy cane sitting next to the elf. I see it as a pretty good feat, maybe next year we'll sit on his lap!

Papa made this cute bench for Madi and her dolls. She absolutely loves it!

Christmas Morning! Santa brought Madi her train and a lot of other fun stuff

Madi was really excited when she woke up christmas morning, we didn't think she really knew what was going on until she came down the stairs, saw the train and immediately said momma look santa brought me a choo choo. I guess she is a santa believer now!

I think the train table has become my new coffee table. I could have never imagined that she would love this so much!

Madi also got a lot of other great presents and toys. We had 3 fun christmas's! Unfortunently my preggo brain left the camera at home so we don't have any pictures from our other celebrations at the Baune's and Haynie's.

Joe and I were able to host Christmas dinner for my parents and little sister crystal and her husband scott. It was fun because we have never been able to have a holiday meal with my family, and we like to host parties!

The kids table...Soon Madi won't be the only one to sit there!

We also finally got our first real snow storm! Madi was so excited to play in the snow even though it didn't last long. we had to drag her back in the house after about 20 min because it was sooooo cold.
