Christmas 2012

Christmas was crazy and busy as usual but we had a great holiday month. I was working a lot and with Madi's birthday didn't have as much time as I would have liked so our Christmas decor was a little lacking, I did however manage to get the tree up and looking nice. Santa was good to the kids and nice to Joe and I as well. Joe got a much needed new car stereo and some new books on cd. Tiffany got some great dark chocolate varieties and a whole bag of red starbursts! This was how the kids and Joe helped me put up christmas decorations...

Our Newest Haynie member, Misletoe as he was named kept an eye on the kids all month long. He did a good job or getting into trouble and hiding in various places throughout the house.

Christmas morning pjs! Madi woke Caleb up early and he wasn't to happy about it (can't you tell) This tradition of sitting at the top of the stairs started in my house when we were young. I love making the kids wait to see what Santa has brought them and I think it makes them so much more excited.

Santa brought the kids all kinds of Thomas trains this year. Little did santa know that they would be such a great hit! Little man has been playing with these everyday since he got them and can be found in this exact position!

Santa always brings some great new books to read. Now that Madi is reading she spent a good 30 min. reading through all of them.

All this little cow girl wanted was a jesse and bullseye for christmas. Santa was sneaky and hid jesse until the end of the morning. Madi handled it well when she didn't immediately find Jesse and she was still happy with her gifts. I guess santa knew that she was a big girl after all.

Daddy and his 'football watchin' blanket. Madi saw this in the store and stated that it would be great if we made that for daddy so he would be warm when watching football. Well "we" made it for him and he loves it. Madi makes sure that he has it when ever he sits down to watch tv.

Christmas mornings playing. After a few hours we headed over to Grandma and papa's for games and food. Of course the new trains had to come along....

We celebrated christmas with the Haynie's December 26th. We enjoyed a nice dinner and some great presents. The kids playing with their newest cousin. (They love babies)

I special present from grandma Haynie. This handmade doll who has been named Natalie was made by Grandma Haynie after she watched Madison have so much fun with a different one at a cousins house. The dolls she made were so beautiful and this one is very much loved.

I will say that while this was a much more laid back and simpler christmas is was by far one of the most memorable and best christmas's that Joe and I have had so far.

Special Visitor

The Haynie kids must have been very good again this year! We had a special visitor come to our house one sunday evening. Caleb wasn't scared and Madi made sure that Santa knew that she wanted Jessi, Bullseye, and Buzz and Woody for her brother! Santa was wonderful and promised that he would bring them something nice if they cleaned their rooms and listened to their parents. (Boy where these kids great for 2 weeks!)

 

Caleb asked for lots of candy and nolla bars (Granolla bars) Apparently he has plently of toys but is lacking in the food department...

The begining of december

As usual our december was crazy! We started the month with Grandma angee's birthday. I made a pineapple upside down cake and we played games... Caleb managed to eat all the cherries off the cake before we got around to cutting it. Here was his sly face...

My big christmas princess

This was caleb's first real encounter with snow. It was barely enough to shovel (and if our house wasn't north facing I probably wouldn't have) He liked it at first but then it got bitter cold and he started screaming!! He refused to wear gloves and insisted on touching the snow so he did get pretty cold. Needless to say we haven't been out in it much since. (not that we really have gotten any snow...)

Caleb has recently learned that it is fun to hide and then jump out and say "boo, i ssssscare ewe" Its been a very fun game to play and he is always looking for a good place to hid,

Caleb also decided that he is interested in the potty and will tell us when he poops, so far we haven't done anything on the toilet yet but i'm not pushing! He recently LOVES trains and santa is strongly considering that he got the wrong gifts this year.. oh well more on the christmas update later. He is also talking up a storm and has learned, little spider, i am a child of god, tinkle star and most of the abc song. His favorite book is brown bear and the dr seus B book.

 

Madi is very sad that school is out for winter break but is looking forward to her birthday party and chirstmas. She shares her birthday with her friend Syndie and they had a fun tea party lunch at school to celebrate. Madi is excelling in school and making us strongly consider her options for next year. (her preschool teacher says that if we can't get her into kindergarten for the next school year we need to keep her out of preschool because she is already bored...maybe homeschooling would be a good option who knows...) She is reading very well now and has mastered all the pre-reading, level 1 and level 2 books.(again santas mistake he got all level 2 books thinking that he was being smart and was going to get her something to challenge her...) She is currently working on the level 3 "mini chapter books" Her writing is also getting better and she was able to write out our family christmas cards to grandparents! She loves playing with her brother and has become a very good helper with him.

Thanksgiving

We had our annual Haynie family Thanksgiving at Tom and Kathys. This year it was great to share the holiday with my parents, Ashley, Pam, Gordon, and Pams mom.

Trouble!

 Caleb has learned to use his stool for EVERYTHING. One day when I wouldn't pick him up he brought his stool to my feet, stood on it, and tried to climb me... Anyway here his is trying to get some juice boxes I put on top of the fridge. When the stool didn't work he grabbed sissy to help.

1 o'clock church is HARD!! After church we are trying to get dinner ready and both kids are usually so tired that we also have to keep them entertained and awake. Caleb found a cookie cutter and my beans and was having a great time "making" pumpkins.
