The Haynie Happenings

Labor Day! This year we chose to go to Martin's Cove WY. Martin's Cove is a mormon pioneer site and they have a great visitors center and several hiking trails that were the ones the pioneers used when they were going to Utah. I was a little unsure of the trip being 8 months pregnant and the summer being so hot already but I was pleasently surprised with our campsite that had great shade with lots of trees. We only stayed for one night because I couldn't handle much more but we had a lot of fun hanging out with grandma, grandpa, aunts, uncles, and cousins. We also found out that Aunt Jana was going to be having another baby, so there will be one more little girl added to the family in February! The kids take after their dad and loved sleeping in the tent. It didn't get to cold at night so mom didn't worry about them to much. The night sky was beautiful and there were so many stars to see. Since it was a mormon church campsite they have couple missionaries that live there and work guiding tours at Martin's Cove. We enjoyed an evening learning new pioneer dances and songs. All in all it was a fun trip and the car survived! (only to completely die a month later when we were thankfully closer to home!)

This is actually a hammock ment for relaxing but the kids think it makes a much better swing, carnival ride and boat!

We would loose Caleb every now and then only to find him playing in the dirt. Here I asked him what he was doing and he stated that he was "sprouting a sandy story!" He learned this from the tv show sprout where they pour sand on a light board and draw in it as they make up a story.

Emily and the Read's went fishing at the local river. Em caught this fish and another one all by herself.

Caleb was so helpful and thought Nona needed to learn to walk so he tried to help her.

She didn't start walking but the 2 had a ton of fun

The sunset was beautiful, one day I want to take some photo classes and actually learn how to use my camera to get some good pics!

we thought we were going to be able to load the kids in handcarts and go but we couldn't so we started hiking... with 6 kids under 5 we didn't last long so we turned around found a smaller trail and followed it to a little stream where the kids could play and cool off in. We also found some cool tame wild horses! (my kids were in heaven!)

When we got back the kids found little handcarts that they could take on a smaller trail. They had a great time and I think they really learned something about pioneers.

The king and queen. These blankets were mine when i was a kid. I love I can pass them down and they love 'em! Blue was been doctored already because the inside completely ripped apart (it is 25 yrs old!) but otherwise they are great and we had to make one for the baby too!

Hungry hungry hippos! These 2 really love playing games together and will every chance they get.

Canning cherries for cherry pie. Madison now thinks that we can only have cherry pie on thanksgiving and was concerned when I made it sooner because we wouldn't be able to have it for thanksgiving dinner...

Making christmas presents for daddy

Day at the fire house! We have a new fire house in our neighborhood and the kids loved dressing up, putting out fires, climbing through the smoke house and hanging out with the fire crew. Caleb asks to go to the fireworks everytime we pass it now.

Thomas the Train came to Colorado this year and we thought it would be a fun family activity before the baby was born. We were lucky to have great weather and the kids had a blast! Caleb loved riding on Thomas and meeting Sir Top in Hat. Him and Papa also had a great time playing trains and getting tatoos.

Riding "Bertie the Bus" as he stated as soon as we got on. It took all us adults a little while to figure out what he was talking about because he was so excited.
